Kanuka und Manuka have a relatively similar appearance, apart from Kanuka trees growing larger, up to 15 metres. Kanuka leafs are around 1 cm long and have soft tips. Kanuka is traditionally by the Maoris used for medicinal purposes, just like Manuka. Kanuka trees also grow on the East Cape of New Zealand. Kanuka analysis shows more similarity to Australian tea tree oil and has sligtly different properties, it also shows strong anti-microbial activity.

Kanuka can be used in body care preparations or as a 100% essential oil in aroma therapy.
